This is the statue of St. Peter in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.We had spent the day walking around Rome, we had got to the hotel in the mid afternoon, so we decided to just walk around to get our bearings.
On our way back to the hotel we decided to talk a walk to the Vatican. There were no crowds as it was after eight, so we took a walk around. It was a stroke of luck as the Basilica which is enormous was basically empty and it was a wonderful experience to stroll around the biggest church in the world like it was your own private chapel.
